Rolla Mornings Live - Podcast Episode #3

We can't stress it enough....Backup, backup, backup!

Backing up your computer's important data can be a real life saver if you ever have an experience like Kristi's. Luckily for you Windows XP users out there, you can backup your data on a regularly scheduled basis using features that are built into the operating system! If you're using Pro, you can access the Backup Wizard by going to Start>All Programs>Accessories>System Tools>Backup. If you're using Home, you'll have to install the Backup feature from your CD. To read more about our discussion, visit the Rolla Mornings Live blog!

Which type of computer backup is right for you?

Join Kristi and me with our special guest Mark McElvey of Accubak Data Systems in Salem, Missouri. Mark provides data recovery and remote backup services for businesses nationwide. He can tell you that the type of backup you choose should be the type of backup that meets your needs in the event of a disaster (like Kristi had a few weeks ago when her hard drive crashed on her!) Mark is also an active member of the Salem Area Computer Users Group.

If you're wondering what type of backup method is best for you, join us this Friday, February 10th for what I'm sure will be an interesting and helpful discussion on Views from the Coop Online!

On today's show, we discussed recognizing the signs, preventing, and recovering from a hard drive crash. Joining us were:
  • Fritz and Jean in Reeds Spring

  • Lonnie and Linda in Moberly

  • Mary in Bland

  • Gwen in St. James (my mom and biggest fan!)

  • Dottye in St. James

Thanks to all of you for adding your own experiences and expressing your views!
