Searching for Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow - Episode 33

Hey, check out a NEW THEME on this week's podcast. Everybody knows I use "chicken songs" to introduce each episode and they're always pretty easy to identify. This week, I'm still using a chicken song, but do you know from whence it comes? Send me your best guesses!

Kristi lead the Coop Crew in a discussion this week about Search Engines. We covered the what, the how, the who and the why. You can bet Fritz shared HIS views of search engines, including his favorite for doing people searches.

To get the scoop, just check out the Show Notes for 8-25-06. You'll also get links to the website of the week (and you'll feel better for doing it) and the tip of the week (and you'll feel safer for doing THAT...).

Since we had Allison Sheridan on, we've been consumed with providing other cross-platform topics of interest and I think I found a really good one. Allison talked to us about using BootCamp and Parallels to run Windows applications on her Mac. On an upcoming show (I'll let you know in advance which one) we'll be talking to Jeremy White of Codeweavers, the creators of CrossOver Office for Linux and now for Mac. The Mac software hasn't been released yet, but it will be soon.

Yep, we've been inspired!

The PC Chiks Meet the Mac Chik - Introducing...Allison Sheridan! - Episode 32

Y'know, there are always some shows that stand out from the rest and today was one of those shows. All the pre-show buildup for today's interview with Allison just didn't quite capture how really COOL and SMART this Mac Chik is! You can bet you'll be hearing more from her on future shows...especially after we made her an official Coop Crew member!

If you'd like to get a copy of today's Show Notes, complete with links to our Website of the Week and Tip of the Week (and pictures of Fritz and his Pro-Twister), just visit us at 2 Smart Chix. Don't forget to listen to the podcast and drop by Podfeet.com and check out Allison's podcast, NosillaCast. I promise, PC or Mac lover, you won't be disappointed!

Identity Theft: Are There Laws that Protect Us? - Episode 31

We took a look at a couple of pending bills in the U.S. House of Representatives: HR 3997 and HR 4127.

This week's outline and links to some of the resources we used are available at:

If you haven't voted in your state's primary to nominate your party's candidate of choice for the November election, make sure you make it to the polls in November. States nationwide will be using the Sequoia AVC Edge electronic voting system. As a Phelps county Technology Deputy, I got the chance to learn the system and help voters during the primary use it. If you've used the AVC Edge, we'd love to hear your comments!

Join us next week on Views from the Coop when we talk with Allison Sheridan of Podfeet.com.

Choosing the MP3 Player that's Right for YOU! - Episode 30

If you've been keeping us with the chickies, you'll no doubt remember that Kristi "Chickitoo" Hicks is the reigning Gadget Queen at the Coop. This week, her Gadgetness took some time to share her vast experience with a myriad of MP3 players with the rest of us more gadget-challenged Coop Crew members (and those in our listening audience). Kristi started with a simple, flash-based MP3 player from Audible.com that she used primarily to listen to audio books. It didn't take her long to decide that she was in dire need of an upgrade for various reasons and has continued to upgrade as her needs have changed.

Kristi did a great job of helping all of us to think about whether or not an MP3 player, or an upgrad to the one we currenlty own, is in our future. I do have one but quite honestly, I haven't used it since I attended Penny Haynes online class, The Complete Podcasting Handbook for the Busy Entrepreneur, the course that started me on my podcasting journey. Coop Crew regular, Dottye, also has an MP3 player she got during the same course.

If you're thinking about purchasing your first (or second or third) MP3 player, you can check out the Views from the Coop outline for this episode before (or while) you listen to the podcast!
